Valentine’s Day Haitian Cooking Experience with Chef KO - Feb 28th
Join Chef KO for an intimate, Valentine’s Day–inspired Haitian cooking class where roses set the mood and tradition meets modern romance. This immersive 3-hour experience begins with flower arranging, wine, and light bites, then flows into a hands-on cooking journey rooted in Haitian culture, memory, and care.
The Menu You’ll Learn
Diri Kole Ak Pwa Wouj – rich, fluffy red beans and rice
Griot or Tasso – tender fried pork or beef, deeply seasoned
Bannann Peze – perfectly golden, twice-fried plantains
Creole sauce for finishing and balance
The Experience
We’ll start by slowing down: arranging roses, sipping wine, and easing into the evening. From there, you’ll cook side by side with me, learning not just how to make Haitian food, but why each step matters.
What’s Included
All ingredients + hands-on, guided instruction
Flower-arranging moment to begin the evening
Wine pairing + communal meal after class
Take-home jar of Epis or Pikliz
Printed recipe booklet + post-class follow-up support
What You’ll Learn
Make Haitian Epis, the green seasoning behind almost every dish
Wash rice the Haitian way—with intention and respect
Clean, chaude, and marinate meat the way our elders taught us
Fry plantains to that perfect golden crunch
Balance aromatics like scallions, garlic, thyme, and bell peppers
Taste and adjust seasoning by instinct—not measurements
Control heat and timing to build deep, layered flavor
Plate and present traditional dishes with a modern touch
Reflect on your own memories of home and find belonging through food
